MOVIES WE LOVE: WONDER WOMAN

MOVIES WE LOVE: WONDER WOMAN

I want to preface this by saying I am not the biggest comic book nerd. I know the difference between Marvel and D.C., I used to by Hulk comics religiously when I was in elementary school, and a have a legitimate crush on the Tom Hiddleston version of Loki. But beyond that, I go to the movies like everyone else just excited to eat popcorn and frozen junior mints.

With that being said, I was SUPER excited for the new Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot is literally the definition of perfect and she's a cool mom! (Like an actual cool mom, not a "I'm a cool mom" from Mean Girls). I was ready to watch her kick ass, look awesome, and inspire my halloween costume this year, but I was not ready for (sorry about this) how wonderful it actually was!

I'm not going to do a full review because that's not my schtick. I am just going to list a few of my favorite parts about the movie and say go see it! My only critique is that if you know everything about Wonder Woman, you might think it's a little slow. This is an origin story. I repeat. This is an origin story. I didn't know any of it and liked that it wasn't all just fight scenes and had some real substance. So without further ado, here are five of my favorite things about Wonder Woman.

1. Gal Gadot In General:

Honestly, Gal Gadot brings out the worst in me. She is so beautiful I just wanted to hate her. I wanted her to be terrible, lacking substance, an idiot, etc., because she is so intimidatingly gorgeous she makes me feel like a strange little hobit creature. But after researching her, watching like a million interviews, I have to say she is actually so lovely and cool and a great role model! She is everything I want to be in life and she does not disappoint on screen. She is a total badass, pretty, funny, and I just loved her. She is seriously the coolest.

2. THE MOST GIRL-POWER FIGHT SCENE OF ALL TIME:

Holy Balls. I am sure I am not ruining this for anyone because I've seen this video go viral on Facebook, reddit, and twitter. But omg, this fight scene. Holy shit. Claire-mother-f*in-Underwood-ILoveYouJenny-RobinWright, you saucy minx. Robin Wright is an absolute badass.  Every actress in this whole part is just insane. My mouth was actually on the ground. I loved every single second of it and had tears in my eyes because I have never seen so many women fight so like THAT in a movie before. It was SO cool.

5. This Is A Movie Made By Women For Women:

There are probably going to be people who disagree on this point, or don't like that I am calling it a movie "for women." Do not get me wrong, I think this movie totally hangs and is better than a lot of super hero movies I have seen, but we cannot pretend like this isn't a movie made to inspire women and girls. I mean, that is the entire point of Wonder Woman. She's a kick ass WOMAN who is the greatest person alive. This writing was also definitely geared to attract a female audience. My boyfriend liked it, thought Gal was awesome, but wished it was gorier and had more fighting, and he didn't get why she was so into Chris Pine (yeah, okay buddy, you don't get why she would like Chris Pine, OKAY). I thought it was perfect, had the right amount of fighting, and liked the romance in it. Plus, it made me feel empowered. It made me genuinely happy and it kind of made me wish I had a daughter to go see it with. It was so girl-power and I reveled in it.
